ประเด็นหลัก
In February, Thai PBS signed an MoU to share digital-TV infrastructure with the state enterprises TOT Plc and CAT Telecom, MCOT's Channel 9 and Channel 5.
Mr Mongkol said TOT and CAT will provide their telecom towers for digital broadcasting as gap fillers.
This will benefit viewers, who can watch digital TV at home without having to install a new antenna.
The cooperation between free-TV and telecom operators is in line with regulators' policy of maximising the existing infrastructure for digital TV.
Presently, TOT has 5,000 telecom towers and CAT has 10,000 nationwide.
The infrastructure sharing between free-TV operators and telecom service providers will reduce digital-TV operating costs, helping to accelerate the digital switchover in Thailand, Mr Mongkol said.

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) projects Thailand will have 39 main broadcasting towers across the country.
Mr Mongkol said the digital-TV operators will choose the best broadcasting towers in each area after the licences are issued. The remaining towers will be used for signal transmissions.
Col Natee Sukonrat, chairman of the NBTC's broadcasting committee, said facility licences will be issued within two months.
The regulator will consider qualified applicants based on their investment plans, funding, financial positions and management plans.
"The ideal concept of digital TV is to promote the use of existing assets, particularly broadcasting towers," Col Natee said.
The term of the facility licences is 15 years.
