กรรมการ DTAC กล่าวว่า แอพพลิเคชั่น Farmer Info นี้ เป็นคลังความรู้ที่ได้รวบรวมมาจากเครือข่ายเกษตรกรระดับภูมิปัญญาทั่วประเทศ โดยได้มีการทำวิจัย สำรวจ และประมวลผลข้อมูลที่เกษตรกรต้องการอย่างแท้จริง เพื่อกำหนดเนื้อหาที่เป็นประโยชน์สำหรับเกษตรกรผู้ประกอบการธุรกิจที่เกี่ยวข้องกับภาคการเกษตร รวมทั้งผู้ที่สนใจความเคลื่อนไหวของราคาสินค้าทางการเกษตรแบบวันต่อวัน
ทั้งนี้ ดีแทคนำเทคโนโลยีมาร่วมพัฒนาให้เกิดแอพพลิเคชั่นที่เป็นประโยชน์ ต่อยอดจากบริการ SMS *1677 ทางด่วนข้อมูลการเกษตรที่ให้บริการฟรีสำหรับลูกค้าดีแทคและแฮปปี้ ตนจึงมีความมั่นใจเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่า ด้วยเทคโนโลยี 3G กับโครงข่าย TriNet จะช่วยเพิ่มโอกาสให้เกษตรกรสามารถตรวจสอบและเปรียบเทียบราคาสินค้าได้ทุกวันจากแหล่งรับซื้อทั่วประเทศ ก่อนนำไปขายเพื่อให้ได้ราคาสูงสุด ซึ่งจะส่งผลในการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตและขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจของประเทศในที่สุด
The app is an extension of an existing service, the Farmer's Information Gateway, which began five years ago and has amassed more than 250,000 subscribers since.
Under the TriNet 3G service _ running on the 2100-, 850- and 1800-megahertz frequencies _ the Farmer Info app will provide a base from which farmers can check and compare prices before selling their crops between markets to generate profits.
When asked whether this would breed an uneasy sense of rivalry in the farmer community, DTAC chief executive Jon Eddy Abdullah said he hoped instead that the Farmer Info app would spur healthy competition and attract more farmers to join the service.

New DTAC app cultivates farm sector
Total Access Communication (DTAC) is tapping the masses by targeting the farm sector in the Northeast with a planned network investment of 7 billion baht this year.
The latest project of Thailand's second-biggest mobile operator follows the recent roll-out of its TriNet 3G service.
DTAC's new mobile service, the Farmer Info app, will be available free to Thai farmers nationwide.
The app is an extension of an existing service, the Farmer's Information Gateway, which began five years ago and has amassed more than 250,000 subscribers since.
Under the TriNet 3G service _ running on the 2100-, 850- and 1800-megahertz frequencies _ the Farmer Info app will provide a base from which farmers can check and compare prices before selling their crops between markets to generate profits.
When asked whether this would breed an uneasy sense of rivalry in the farmer community, DTAC chief executive Jon Eddy Abdullah said he hoped instead that the Farmer Info app would spur healthy competition and attract more farmers to join the service.
DTAC's latest project kicked off over the past weekend as the company sent a test-drive team to the northeastern region, the first leg of its Internet For All roadshow covering all 76 provinces plus Bangkok.
DTAC will invest 7 billion baht in TriNet expansion in the Northeast alone, of which 150 million baht will go to aesthetic enhancements at existing DTAC service centres in the region.
"There is plenty of room for internet usage to grow in the Northeast, which has the lowest mobile penetration rate in the country," said Mr Abdullah.
"Isan is also the region that has experienced the fastest growth in Thailand in the area of data service usage, jumping from 8% to 13% in six months."
DTAC's future plans include a new range of OEM (original equipment manufacturer) handsets, to be available to subscribers for as low as 3,000 baht.
Despite being slower to launch 3G than network rivals Advanced Info Service and True Move, DTAC says it has the widest range of frequencies and the widest bandwidth in the country.
Shares of DTAC closed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand at 121.50 baht yesterday, down 50 satang, in trade worth 569.79 million baht.
