นาย อานนท์ ทับเที่ยง กรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่ บริษัท ทีโอที จำกัด (มหาชน)หรือTOT เปิดเผยว่า ขณะนี้ ทีโอที ได้เซ็นสัญญาการใช้ทรัพย์สินร่วมกัน ระหว่างทีโอที และบริษัท แอดวานซ์ อินโฟร์เซอร์วิส จำกัด (มหาชน) ในการใช้โครงข่ายสถานีฐานร่วม(โคไซต์) เพื่อให้บริการโทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่ระบบ 3 จี ในย่านความถี่ 1900 เมกะเฮิรตซ์ ทั้งนี้ ทีโอที จะใช้โครงข่ายร่วมกับกับเอไอเอส 800 สถานีฐานในเฟสแรก ซึ่งเป็นการดูตามความเหมาะสมของพื้นที่ และตำแหน่งของสถานีฐาน
สำหรับสาเหตุที่ ทีโอที เลือกทำสัญญาโคไซต์กับเอไอเอสก่อนเป็นรายแรก เพราะบริษัทดังกล่าวเป็นผู้ประกอบการที่มีโครงข่ายในระบบ 2จี ครอบคลุมมากที่สุดกว่า 13,000 แห่ง อีกทั้ง เอไอเอส ยังเป็นผู้รับสัญญาสัมปทานกับ ทีโอที อีกด้วย
นายอานนท์ กล่าวเพิ่มเติ่มถึงแผนงานการเปิดให้บริการ 3จีของ ทีโอที ทั่วประเทศว่าจะเปิดได้ในวันที่ 18 พฤษภาคม2555 มีจำนวนสถานีฐานให้บริการทั้งหมด 5,320 แห่ง จากปัจจุบันที่ขยายโครงข่ายได้แล้ว 2,000 แห่ง

ด้านนาย พันธ์เทพ จำรัสโรมรัน ประธานกรรมการ(บอร์ด)บริษัท ทีโอที จำกัด (มหาชน) กล่าวว่า ในงาน"บีโอไอแฟร์ 2012" ในระหว่างวันที่ 5-20 มกราคม2555 ที่ อิมแพค เมืองทองธานี ทีโอที จะเสนอบริการให้ผู้ชมงานได้ชม ทั้งโทรศัพท์พื้นฐาน โทรศัพท์มือถือ 3 จี บริการอินเตอร์เนตความเร็วสูง(บรอดแบนด์) และบริการมัลติมีเดีย ซึ่งจะเป็นการผสมผสานการให้บริการที่ในปี2555 นี้ ทีโอทีจะนำมาให้บริการประชาชน
นอกจากนี้บริการมดังกล่าวจะเป็น จุดแข็งของทีโอที ในอนาคต และหากขาดบริการใดบริการหนึ่งแล้วจะทำให้ ทีโอที ไม่แข็งแกร่งเหมือนกับบริษัทโทรคมนาคมทั่วโลก และมั่นใจว่าบริการดังกล่าวจะสร้างรายได้ให้บริษัท หลังรายได้จากสัญญาสัมปทานโทรศัพท์มือถือสิ้นสุดลง

TOT inks 3G co-site rental deal with AIS
TOT has signed a deal with Advanced Info Service to rent the company's network facilities for three years and eight months and establish its third-generation cellular network on a co-site basis, TOT president Anont Tubtiang said yesterday.
He said TOT would initially rent 800 of AIS's cellular base stations to install its 3G network equipment, with the option to expand to a further 800 bases in the future.
The deal was signed on December 30 last Friday and the cost of the co-siting is about Bt25,000 per site.
The state agency's board last year approved TOT's plan to set up 1,600 base stations of its 3G network on a co-site basis with any cellular operators for a budget of Bt1 billion. The move will enable TOT to establish the nationwide 3G network quickly.
Anont added that TrueMove had also proposed to TOT the renting of its network for the agency's 3G network on a similar co-site basis for five years.
After AIS's concession ends in 2015, TOT will no longer have to pay rent, since AIS is required by its concession to transfer its network to the state agency, which owns the concession.
The co-siting will speed up TOT's deployment of about 3,000 3G base stations in 18 provinces by the end of next month, before raising the total to 5,320 stations in May.
Some 1,145 base stations have already been installed, 789 of them on TOT sites, 201 on CAT Telecom sites and 155 on new ones.
Meanwhile, TOT also expects to have new mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) partners in March, said Anont. MVNOs do not have their own network, so they lease bandwidth from network operators to offer a cellular service.
TOT is drawing up the 3G bandwidth lease it would grant to MVNOs to lease its 3G capacity and the leasing terms range from three to 14 years, he added.
Last year, TOT's board approved a plan to allow firms to propose leasing its 3G capacity to offer services to their customers on an MVNO basis. It will not limit the number of MVNOs.
TOT's five current MVNOs - Samart i-Mobile, Loxley, IEC, M Consultant and 365 Communications - can also propose business plans to TOT if they want to continue as an MVNO. The agency will have to cancel the agreements with the five operators when it recruits new MVNOs.
TOT is targeting a 3G subscriber base of 1 million to 2 million next year, up from about 300,000 currently, of whom 80,000 were acquired by TOT and the rest by the five MVNOs.
